Pain management - We cover all aspects of pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods of pain relief
Medical interventions - An overview of the various interventions that are sometimes offered during birth including assisted births, induction of labour and continuos monitoring
Caesarean - A walk through of what to expect with planned and unplanned (emergency caesareans)
Decision making & communication with care providers - How to work with your care provider to make decisions regarding interventions, medications and other aspects of your care
The first 48 hours - What physical changes to expect in the first 48 hours after birth.
The first 4 weeks - How the body recovers in the first 4 weeks. Identifying what is normal and what isn't
Emotions - A discussion on the emotional changes that can occur after birth, how to navigate these changes and when to seek support
Self care - How to look after yourself physically and emotionally during your adjustment into new parenthood
Infant feeding - An extensive discussion and practical demonstration surrounding feeding your baby and getting off to a good start. This includes both breast and bottle feeding.
Infant hygiene - Bathing, umbilical cord care, dressing and nappy changes
Infant sleep - Newborn sleep patterns and sleep safety
Infant behaviour & bonding - Normal newborn behaviour, how baby adapts to the outside world, newborn communication and identifying their needs. We also talk about parental bonding, along with tips on enhancing the bonding experience
Is it normal? - Identifying whether there are any concerns with your baby. We discuss jaundice, urine and stool output, identifying if your baby is unwell and when to get support
